‘Mission Mangal’ sued for copyright infringement

Vidya Balan and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Mission Mangal’ is being sued for copyright infringement by Radha Bharadwaj, who claims that the project infringes on her screenplay ‘Space MOMs’.

According to Bharadwaj’s suit, she had submitted her screenplay to producer Atul Kasbekar under a non-disclosure agreement, which prevented him from sharing the project with others without her written consent. However, once Bharadwaj discovered that the screenplay had been shared with Balan without her knowledge, she cancelled the agreement, Asian Age reported. Bharadwaj is now seeking a stay on the production and release of the film. The screenplay of ‘Space MOMs’ has been registered with the US Copyright Office since 2016.

‘Mission Mangal’ is the story of the 2014 Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) and stars Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Balan, Kumar, Kriti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi and Nithya Menen.
