Mira Nair to helm Vikram Seth’s ‘A Suitable Boy’ as BBC series?

Rumours are rife that director Mira Nair will take responsibility of turning best selling author Vikram Seth’s book ‘A Suitable Boy’ in the form of a series for the BBC.

According to Ahmedabad Mirror, the director is already in India searching for locations, where apparently Lucknow seems to be the chosen one. The mini series will accumulate to eight parts in total, representing the story of a girl’s journey in feeling with the traditions and customs of an arraigned marriage in the midst of India gaining Independence from the British Raj.

However, the author recently had caught up with the media, and when asked about Nair’s involvement, he seemed to have other ideas. “She’s a friend. But I don’t think so. It’ll have to be someone from any part of the world with – what should I call it? – a fresh approach. And the actors should be Indian, hopefully from the welter of talent here,” Seth explained.

Nair is yet to comment on the news.
