A world-first coronavirus vaccination developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, is set to give people 90% protection from getting the deadly virus.
A preliminarily analysis showed that no safety concerns were raised on the 43,500 people tested across six countries. It will now apply for emergency approval to use the vaccine by November-end.
This is the first vaccination to show results from a number of others currently in the final stages of testing.
Dr Albert Bourla, the chairman of Pfizer, was cited on BBC News saying, “We are a significant step closer to providing people around the world with a much-needed breakthrough to help bring an end to this global health crisis.”
Prof Ugur Sahin, one of the founders of BioNTech described the results as a “milestone”.
The UK has placed an order of 30 million doses of this vaccine.
