Merger between Viacom18 & Disney Star India expected to conclude early next week
The highly anticipated merger between Reliance Industries’ Viacom18 and Walt Disney’s Star India is expected to reach completion by early next week.
According to The Financial Express India, the year-long process is likely to conclude by Monday. This massive $8.5 billion merger will bring together over 100 channels and two streaming platforms, merging popular networks like Star Plus and Colors and uniting digital platforms Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema.
Sources indicate that the official announcement of the merger will follow a board meeting on Monday, chaired by Nita Ambani. The new entity will operate under the name Star India, with Reliance holding a 56% stake, Disney a 37% share, and Bodhi Tree Systems retaining a 7% stake in the combined company.
