Meghna Gulzar wants Saif Ali Khan to play Pakistani officer in next

Saif Ali Khan

With ‘Talvar’ (2015) being her last directorial, Meghna Gulzar has revealed that her next will be the adaptation of a novel written by Harinder Sikka titled ‘Calling Sehmat’ (2008). The book is based on the true events of a Kashmiri spy who went above and beyond to save her country during the Indo-Pak war. Furthermore, the director already has Saif Ali Khan in mind to play a pivotal role.

As Spotboye reports, the director wants Khan to play the role of the Pakistani officer that Indian spy Sehmat Khan (not her real name) married in order to gather inside information about Pakistan’s plans during the war.

From Kashmir, Sehmat Khan had saved the Indian nation through her sacrifices, and due to her work was responsible for saving the lives of hundreds of Indian soldiers.

Though Khan has yet to be signed, it seems this is one film which maybe hard to turn down. Reports have it that Gulzar wants to start rolling as early as next year.
