Media frenzy over Abhishek & Aishwarya wedding

The media worldwide is going ga gaover the Bollywood wedding of the year of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.

The preparations are in full swing at the Bachchan’s bungalow in Prateeksha where the main function will be held. According to reports, the sangeet night held today was composed by popular trio Shankar Ehsaan and Loy. It is rumoured that they performed a number of songs from the movies featuring Abhishek, Aishwarya and even Amitabh Bachchan.

The mendhi night is being held on Thursday and the main religious ceremony and the low-key reception party taking place on Friday.

Not surprising that every media channel is hoping to get a glimpse of the couple during the wedding. There had been reports earlier in the month that international magazines with domestic footprint – ‘Hello!’ and ‘OK!’ were in the forefront to grab exclusive picture rights to the wedding.

“We would like to carry out an exclusive for the Abhi-Ash wedding just like we did justice to the Liz-Arun wedding last month so that Hello! India can bring back another great story for its readers,” says Ruchika Mehta, Editor, Hello! India.

“We�۪re a big celebrity magazine and pursuing a big celebrity event would be very much in keeping with our style,” says Sonali Velinker Kamat, Editor, OK! India.

“We would use whatever necessary tools required to get exclusive access to an event of this scale, but cash is not one of the things we intend to use in our negotiations,” she adds.

However, in a turnaround of events, it looks like media rights for the huge wedding may not be awarded to anyone. The Bachchans apparently feel that it’s beneath their standing to sell the media rights to, arguably, the biggest wedding in Bollywood.
