MATV’s CEO to executive produce ‘Sonia’

The owner of Leicester based TV channel MATV, Vinod Popat, has been confirmed as one of the executive producers of the forthcoming Sonia Gandhi movie called ‘Sonia’.

The film is an unofficial biographical attempt on the life of Indian politician Sonia Gandhi.

It stars Italian actress Monica Bellucci who will play the leading part in the film. Bollywood stars Perizaad Zorabian, Fardeen Khan and Zayed Khan will also play pivotal roles in ‘Sonia’.

The film is directed by Jag Mundhra, who received rave reviews for his yet to be released movie ‘Provoked’ (Aishwarya Rai) at the Cannes Film Festival.

Vinod Popat started his career as a sales executive of Nzeru Radio, in Malawi, Central Africa introducing a new line of products. He established local production facilities and oversaw progress from introduction to the market, to being the number one selling commodity in the market. This in spite of heavy competition from multi-national companies.

He has brought together a team of highly talented individuals who have established Britain’s first Asian terrestrial television channel – MATV. Vinod has since then been involved in setting up a bouquet of Asian channels and has worked as a consultant in establishing a seven channel network broadcasting on the Sky Digital platform.
