MATV strengthens Punjabi programming

Leicester based MATV will be launching a slew of new shows in June to strengthen its Punjabi and Urdu programming output. Starting from 1st June, MATV will introduce an hour-long Punjabi block, which will air from 19:00, Tuesday – Thursday. These shows will all be produced and presented locally. Tuesday nights will see Punjabi Live Talk presented by Shingara Singh and Neeta Rajput. The show will include live calls and will showcase the latest Punjabi releases. Gurudham De Yatra, will form one part of the hour long slot on Wednesday. This programme will look at various places of worships and events including India, Pakistan and more closer to home – UK. The second Punjabi show of Wednesday night will be Deena Sikha De. This programme’s aim will be to keep a closer eye on the Sikh calendar and reason why particular dates are so important to Sikhs around the world. Thursday at 19:00 will see, Punjabi Fusion, which will be a lively music programme showcasing the best of Bhangra and folk music videos from India and Pakistan. Punjabian De Balle Balle aired at 19:30 will celebrate the success of individuals from the Punjabi community from various walks of life. MATV will also be jazzing up its Friday night with the launch of an Urdu poetry show. Kalaam Kar with Farzana is being described as a live interactive sher o’ shairy programme in Urdu with geet and ghazals from India and Pakistan. MATV has been on an uphill with primetime already doing well with shows from the Sahara TV camp. Malini Iyer, Kamini Damini and Karisma… , which launched last month have been performing great guns.
