MATV set for India launch later this month

Free-to-air Asian entertainment channel, MATV is expanding by launching in India, later this month.

A channel spokesman confirmed the news to BizAsia.co.uk today. He further added that MATV will be carried by cable operators in various parts of Asia – including India, uplinked by Thaicom 5.

Other channels like STAR Sports, Nat Geo Wild and ETC Punjabi are also beamed by Thaicom 5.

MATV India will initially use the same feed as MATV UK/Europe currently on Sky Digital.

In other MATV news, the channel has sold airtime to Gateway TV, a Christian TV channel set to launch full time as soon as a new EPG slot on Sky Digital becomes available. Gateway TV has bought 30 hours of airtime per month. MATV broadcast Gateway TV, one hour per day at 20:00.
