‘MasterChef India’ to replace ‘Kaali’ on Star Plus

The troubled show ‘Kaali Ek PunarAvtar’, which never managed to click with viewers since its launch in December last year will be axed next month on Star Plus.

The Shakuntalam Telefilms produced drama will be replaced with cookery show ‘MasterChef India’ in the weekday 20:00 slot from mid-March. Unlike previous seasons, this year’s series of ‘MasterChef India’ will take a weekday slot rather than the weekend to break away from clutter. At the time of announcing the show, Star Plus senior director- marketing and communications Nikhil Madhok said, “It is a conscious decision from Star to be innovative and clutter breaking. We want to break the convention of reality shows airing on weekends.”

While the channel is yet to confirm the news, reliable sources for BizAsia have confirmed that ‘Kaali Ek PunarAvtar’ will be axed instead of being shifted to another time slot. The channel also announced earlier this month that ‘Yeh Khamoshiyan’ will end this week to make way for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming drama ‘SaraswatiChandra’.

The launch date for ‘MasterChef India’ is yet to be revealed, however the rumour mill suggests the show launches on Monday 11th March.
