Manish Malhotra: “No shortcuts to success”

Manish Malhotra has marked 25 years in the industry as well as 11 years of his own label. The fashion designer talked about the advice he would give to hopefuls.

“Never lose focus. There are no short-cuts to success. But, when it does come, work harder,” said Malhotra to DNA, as the piece of advice he’d give to those wanting to enter into fashion.

When asked about what inspires his designs, Malhotra commented, “I am a very keen observer. From nature to architecture, people going about their lives, a beautiful piece of art or beautifully decorated home, inspiration is everywhere.”

He went on to say, “From modelling to costume designing, each of these let me travel the world, meet and work with some of the best creative minds in the country. They taught me to dream big, work really hard and stay humble. So, 25 years later, this has stood me in good stead to build and grow my label.”

Malhotra is known to have designed for the most well-known names and is a favourite for many filmmakers too.
