Not so long ago actress-turned-producer Pooja Bhatt was reported to have received threatening phone calls from someone, who had also phoned her father Mahesh Bhatt. Now it seems that actress Mallika Sherawat and her family are on the receiving end of such horrific calls.
It has been reported that due to the actress soon to star in a film based on the alleged murder of Bhanwari Devi by a politician, there are a few people who don’t want the film to go ahead, and feel to make it very clear. “Yes, we have received threat calls. Somebody called my brother and said, ‘Ask your sister to stay out of this topic’,” NDTVreport Sherawat saying during the press conference of the film, named ‘Dirty Politics’.
However Sherawat is not known to back down, and this scenario deems no different. Protesting against the phone call and towards anyone else who share the same views, she goes onto say, “Every actor or actress is a victim of politics. Every day you have to do politics. To survive in India, you have to do politics. I have played both dirty and good politics. The dirtier the better.”
Best known for her audacious roles, the ‘Murder’ (2004) actress talked about her role in this film, “t’s a very bold role and I am not trying to change my image with the film. I am very happy with my image. The film is inspired from Bhanwari Devi. It’s based on a scandal.”
The film will be directed byK.C. Bokadia, where actor Om Puri will star opposite Sherawat.
