Malaika Arora gets son Arhaan’s custody post divorce
Bollywood’s couple Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora are now officially divorced after the Bandra Family Court agreed to their divorce petition.
BizAsiaLive.com reported yesterday how the divorce was approved by the court and the split is now official. The mutual agreement ended their 18-year old marriage. And while Arora has retained the physical custody of their 14-year-old son, Arhaan, Khan has been granted access to them whenever he wants, reports Pinkvilla.
Sources report that Arora did not seek any alimony or property from Khan. The pair appeared yesterday appeared before the family court where they met principal marriage counsellor VS Athavale for five minutes and were then granted divorce by the Family Court judge. They had arrived together for the Justin Bieber concert, which was held a day before on 10th May, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The ex-couple still remain cordial and are very much a part of each other’s life without letting their split affect their family life. Arora was even a part of Khan’s nephew Ahil Sharma’s birthday celebrations in Maldives.
Khan was asked by the media a while back if there was a chance at reconciliation. He responded, “I feel, if we had to get more time, we would have got back by now. The fact that we haven’t, means it is not meant to be. I wouldn’t want to speak for her. I kept my option open despite us parting ways, and I gave it a little time, whether it was a year or two years before I moved on in certain ways. Even as far as dating somebody is concerned. So I guess if that was to happen it would have happened in the first six months, or one year. It didn’t and it’s been almost three years now.”
