Makers of ‘Sangamithra’ find Shruti Haasan’s replacement

After unveiling the first look of the film at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, it came to a huge surprise when Shruti Haasan announced she was walking out of the south film ‘Sangamithra’. Where it was rumoured that the maker’s would shelve the film, they have now confirmed that they have found a new actress to play the role.

The South film is said to be based on the DC comic character Wonder Woman which was also made into a Hollywood feature film. Deccan Chronicle reports Hema Rukmani, CEO, Sri Thenandal Films confirming, “We have found a replacement for Shruti and we are waiting for the right time to announce it.”

Talking of Haasan’s exit, she went on to add, “She (Shruti) did not opt out. We decided that we could not work together. It is very professional decision and we wish her well. But it’s just that we had to part ways.”

Rumours are also rife that South superstar Nayanthara is to play a role in the film as well, to which Rukmani simply expressed, “We have worked with Nayan before and she is an amazing artist. As ‘Sangamithra’, we all have read the script, at least I have. I know what a dream it would be to do that role. We have an image of Sangamithra in our minds and we are sure we will find the right replacement immediately.”

Also starring  Jayam Ravi and Arya, ‘Sangamithri’ will be directed by Sundar C.
