Makers put hunt for Dayaben replacement in ‘TMKOC’ on hold

The casting process for the lead role of Dayaben in Sony SAB TV’s popular sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has been put on hold.

The absence of Dayaben, originally played by actress Disha Vakani who has been on a maternity break for the past two years, has left a gaping hole in the show’s story. It has left fans eagerly awaiting Vakani’s return. However, a lack of mutual agreement between Vakani and producers on the conditions for Vakani’s return has meant that auditions for the Dayaben role had re-opened, much to the public’s interest.

According to Telly Chakar, producers are not in a hurry to write Dayaben back into the show. Still, the inevitable return of Dayaben could be marked with the entry of a perfect replacement for Vakani ideally in the form of an established actress with seismic popularity; though, the possibility of a fresh face is also welcomed by the makers.
