Major newspaper & UK government websites go down

Major publications The Guardian, Financial Times, Independent and the New York Times, have had their websites hit by a bug today.

The websites have gone down, along with the UK government site.

All the sites are currently displaying the message: “Error 503 Service Unavailable”.

CNN reports that the problem appears to be related to an outage at Fastly (FSLY), a cloud service provider. “We are continuing to investigate this issue,” the company said on its service status website (which was working).

Update at 11:50: The websites resumed around 11:45
