In 1989, Rajshri Productions۪ film Maine Pyar Kiya۪ created history at the box office and for the industry as a whole. The film became an ultimate love story that many even swear by today. BizAsia has learnt that, to mark the film۪s 25th anniversary this month, it will be re-releasing.
Talking to Hindustan Times, an insider said, December 2015 will mark the 25th anniversary of the movie۪s release. And to celebrate the occasion in a grand way, the makers have been contemplating releasing it again. They will bring out a clearer print of the film, which, in all likelihood, should release in December next year.
Right now, only a handful of people in Barjatya۪s team know of this idea. He will finish his ongoing project with Salman by April 2015 at the latest, after which he will begin post-production work for the same. By then, the team will also try to figure out if their plans for the re-release of MPK are feasible, further revealed the insider.
It is thought that the makers are currently looking into selling merchandise too in the hope that fans will be eager to buy collective items.
The film starred Salman Khan and Bhagyashree in the main roles and also saw performances from Mohnish Behl and Reema Lagoo to name a few.
