Mahesh Bhatt backs 'City Lights'

Popular filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who has directed some of the biggest blockbusters of Bollywood, is in full support of filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s next project titled ‘City Lights’. The director says people should watch the film as it will connect them to their own emotions.

‘City Lights’ is the official adaptation of British film ‘Metro Manila’ (2013). It essays the story of a Rajasthani couple who comes to the city of dreams, Mumbai for earning purpose but soon struck by misfortune.

Bhatt told NDTV, “City Lights is for those people who know a lot, but don’t feel at all. It’s time for them to feel and this film will make those people, who know so much, feel because feeling is the life blood of human race, which is disappearing. The feeling that you should have for your fellow human being is disappearing.”

The legendary filmmaker further rued how people are much more concerned about their own progress and do not feel for others. “Having buildings, growth models, having great progress, flyovers and no human being are feeling for human being is a nightmare scenario,” Bhatt said.

“So here is the film City Lights for those people to feel. So go and see City Lights as it connects you to your greatest legacy, that is your treasures of feeling,” the filmmaker added.

‘City Lights’, which stars Rajkummar Rao, is scheduled to be released on 30th May and Bhatt’s Vishesh Films will be distributing it.
