'Madras Cafe' to premiere on Rishtey this month

The controversial action flick ‘Madras Cafe’ will be shown on Rishtey in the UK later this month, BizAsia can confirm.

The film is about an Indian Intelligence agent (portrayed by John Abraham) journeys into a war torn coastal island, to break a resolute rebel group. He deftly maneuvers his resources to make significant breakthroughs, amidst a scenario where the enemy has no face and the only counsel is ‘Don’t get caught.’ At various junctions, he meets a charismatic and passionate journalist (portrayed by Nargis Fakhri) who is following her will to reflect the truth behind the civil war. The story unfolds as their quest for the truth reveals a deeper conspiracy, by a faceless enemy, united to seize a common nemesis – India.

‘Madras Cafe’ release was banned in the UK on the day it opened up at cinemas. Prior to the film releasing, there were protests outside the head office of cinemas, organised by Sri Lankan Tamil groups led by the Tamil Youth Organisation (UK). Carrying placards that said, ���Inciting violence is not entertainment,�۝ ���Ban Madras Caf̩�۝, ���Ban hate speech�۝, its members shouted slogans and burnt copies of the film�۪s posters.

‘Madras Cafe’ will be shown on Sunday 24th November on Rishtey.

Incidentally, sister channel, Colors will be premiering ‘Boss’ on its channel the same weekend.
