Madhur Bhandarkar facing backlash for ‘Indu Sarkar’?

Last month saw the release of the theatrical trailer for Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Indu Sarkar’. But ever since the director has been receiving a lot of backlash from members of the public and politicians alike.

Reported in the Deccan Chronicle, Bhandarkar has been receiving threats ever since first images of the film were leaked and this has now only seemed to have got worse since the release of the trailer. “I have been threatened by many people, including politicians saying that they will take legal action against me,” says Bhandarkar.

However this isn’t bothering the ‘Fashion’ (2008) director, who has been known for making films which are probably a little controversial as they expose the dark side of the world. Having made films like ‘Heroine’ (2012), ‘Page 3’ (2005) and ‘Satta'(2003), Bhandarkar said that he feels the CBFC may have a say on the final cut. “There are many objections. The politicians have not seen the movie. They have only seen the trailer, and they are objecting saying they will take legal action against me. But then the final decision on what to retain in the film and what to edit will only happen once the film is censored.”

Further adding, “There are many objections. The politicians have not seen the movie. They have only seen the trailer, and they are objecting saying they will take legal action against me. But then the final decision on what to retain in the film and what to edit will only happen once the film is censored.”

‘Indu Sarkar’ is slated to release on the 28th July.
