Madhavan signed for film based on Muhammad Ali

With biopics becoming rather popular within the Indian Film industry, another actor who is set to be seen in an adaptation of someone’s life is Madhavan. Having been signed on Mani Ratnam’s next, reports have it that the film is based on the world champion boxer Muhammad Ali.

The film titled ‘Laal’ will see Madhavan play the character of a boxer where the film will take the audience on a journey through his life in and out of the ring. Sudha Kongara is to assist Ratnam with the project. Indian Express��reported a source revealing, “he director has taken the core of Muhammad Ali�۪s life in the ring and added fictional flourishes to it. Madhavan who has known Sudha from the time he worked with Mani in ‘Alai Payuthe’ (2000), ‘Kannathil Muttamital’ (2002) and ‘Guru’ (2007) planned and plotted the film together with the director and then took nearly a year off to prepare for his part.”

According to reports, the actor has been training in Los Angeles, USA for the past 6 months and has managed to lose 15 kilos in preparation for the role. When the media contacted Madhavan, he went on to explain, “It�۪s been a time of a complete physical revamp for me. I�۪ve been in LA training and preparing for my part. My entire body structure and body language has changed. I now walk and think like a boxer.”
