Only a few years ago, Bollywood glitterati took to Macau to attend the International Indian Film Awards (IIFAs). BizAsia can confirm that the country is set to host the awards again this year.

Not only is the country being repeated but so is the hotel; Venetian Macau Hotel to be exact. Sabbas Joseph, Director, Wizcraft confirmed the location to Film Business Asia, “It has been after careful consideration that we have decided to host the Videocon DDB IIFA Weekend in Macau. This destination has much to offer by way of culture, tourism and the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel is the perfect choice for this year’s celebrations. The enormous integrated resort is like a city in itself and we had an unforgettable experience in 2009”.

Back on 2009, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were present and this year will be no different with the former also set to perform at the prestigious event. It seems Amitabh Bachchan will also be in attendance this year, suggesting any difference with the organisers have now been resolved. Announcing Macau as the location, Abhishek spoke to India Today, “I am ecstatic to hear the venue as Macau. This is the place where we celebrated our 10th year of IIFA and I am happy that it is going back to the same place where we will celebrate 100 years of cinema”.

The IIFAs will be a three-day event between 4-6 July.
