Lyca Radio, Lyca Gold & Asian Sound Radio set for “biggest ever” Ramadan content

Greater London’s leading Asian radio network, the Lyca Group consisting of Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold, has announced its “biggest ever” Ramadan content plan.

Backed with huge sponsors and hundred of hours of special Islamic content for the holy month, the Lyca Group has pulled out all the stops for its three Asian radio stations – Lyca Radio – Greater London, Lyca Gold – Greater London and Asian Sound Radio – Greater Manchester (soon to be known as Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester).

In Greater London, the two stations will broadcast 40-minute Sehar and Iftari transmission daily during the Holy month. Veteran broadcaster Nuzhat Mehboob will be the main voice during the Holy month fronting the ‘Waqt-e-Sehar’ and ‘Waqt-e-Iftar’ shows. Like previous years, the shows are sponsored by Tariq Halal. The station’s second sponsor, Tilda will give an essence of Ramadan with special quotes and philosophies during the 30-days. Furthermore, Waseem Jewellers is sponsoring Sehar and Iftar time updates throughout the day.

In Greater Manchester, Asian Sound Radio (soon to be known as Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester), Riz Khan will broadcast in English ‘Waqt-e-Sehar’ live from 03:00 – 05:00. Nuzhat Mehboob will air a three-hour Iftar show from 16:00 until 19:00. Both the shows will sponsored by Danube Properties. Furthermore, Solar 4 Good has joined hands to giveaway a laptop every week during Ramadan during a daily Naat competition. The contest will run with Ibn-e-Tabish on the ‘Mid-Morning Show’ at 10:00 weekdays.

Meanwhile, Shana Paratha has jumped on board across all of our stations for special tracks being played across the day to coincide with Ramadan.

Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Media said, “We’re super proud to be bringing our biggest ever Ramadan transmission to our listeners in Greater London and Greater Manchester. Just weeks after taking over Asian Sound Radio, we have quickly turned things around to join our three Asian stations together in bringing potentially the largest Ramadan transmission across any other UK commercial radio station. This would not have been possible without my fantastic team and the support of our sponsors. We’re delighted to have so many big brands associating themselves with Lyca for this year’s special Ramadan programming. A huge thanks to each and everyone for making this happen. Ramadan Kareem.”

The Lyca Group acquired Asian Sound Radio in December 2023. It will soon be rebranded as Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester to coincide with Eid 2024.
