Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester unveils a UK-Asian radio first with hybrid content from London stations

Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester, previously known as Asian Sound Radio, has unveiled an extensive programming lineup featuring a blend of local and networked shows from Lyca Radio – Greater London and Lyca Gold – Greater London. This marks a new era for UK commercial Asian radio, especially for listeners in the North West of England.

The rebranding to Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester occurred in April 2024 following its acquisition in December 2023. The station has now rolled out its final schedule, offering a mix of local content and popular shows from its sister stations in London, creating a unique offering for UK Asian radio listeners.

This innovative approach makes Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester the first UK Asian radio station to provide a combination of local programming from its Manchester studios and networked content from London. The station’s robust lineup aims to cater to the diverse tastes of its audience with high-quality content.

The weekday programming kicks off with three local shows: Breakfast with Fazeela at 07:00, the Mid-Morning Show with Ibn-E-Tabish at 10:00, and Drive with Riz Khan at 16:00. These are complemented by Vish Bhatnagar from Lyca Radio – Greater London at 13:00 and Anisa Nasir’s The Big Show, networked with Lyca Gold – Greater London, at 19:00.

The weekend lineup includes Weekend Breakfast with Emiel Khan, Ritu Sharma networked with Lyca Gold – Greater London, a local Afternoon Show with Rubina Khan, the Lyca Radio Network Chart Show with Niraj, and Vintage Gold with Sandy Shah from 19:00 to 22:00.

Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester plans to expand its programming with regional language shows, introducing Bengali and Punjabi content soon. This addition aims to further cater to the diverse linguistic audience in Greater Manchester.

Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Radio Network, stated, “I am immensely proud of this innovative initiative, which provides listeners in the North West of England with high-quality content tailored to all age groups, featuring both contemporary and classic music as well as a range of languages. This represents a pioneering development in UK Asian radio and marks the beginning of a new era of premium content. I am deeply appreciative of my team, both on-air and behind the scenes, for their efforts in bringing this vision to fruition.”

Listeners can tune into Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester on 963 AM and 1377 AM locally, as well as on DAB, the ‘Lyca Radio’ mobile app and online, ensuring broad accessibility across various platforms.
