The award winning radio personality, Lucky Dhillon OBE has passed away after an eight-year battle with cancer.

She was the first radio broadcaster in Europe, to broadcast live programmes from the prestigious Sri Harmandir Sahib, Golden Temple, Amritsar.

Cherie Blair QC presented an award to Dhillon, who received the Media Professional of the Year award, at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards 2007, for the 10th anniversary of her award winning Amrit Vela Radio. In 2009, Dhillon was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s 2009 New Years Honours list for her services to Asian Broadcasting and to the Media.

The funeral takes place on Friday 17th May at 08:30 for Antim Darshan and prayers at the Ramgharia Sabha in Southall, London. There will be a religious ceremony after the cremation at the same Gurdwara.

Dhillon passed away on Wednesday 8th May.
