This year’s Leicester Belgrave Mela has been cancelled on the back of the government’s guidelines on social distancing and mass gatherings.
The event was scheduled to take place on Sunday 23rd August. Pravin Mistry, Festival Director said, “This decision was not taken lightly but the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in the organising of the Mela and those that attend our event is paramount including our partners, participants and the general public.
“We appreciate everyone’s continued support and patience through these unprecedented times and hope that you will all join us for a safer, and even more vibrant Mela festival next year’.
We are working with our partners; in particular Leicester City Council to see if there may be an opportunity to present elements of the Mela in an alternative and safer format later on in the year. These are on going discussions and we will update you with any further developments.”
