The telecommunications company, Lebara is rumoured to have acquired the digital London radio station, IBC Tamil.
The Lebara Group is said to have forked out thousands of pounds for the station.
It was previously owned by Sathy Media but BizAsia understands that Lebara bought the stations in the last few weeks. Media regulator Ofcom is yet to green signal the acquisition.
While Lebara has not come forward to confirm the news, the company name registered to run the newly owned station is London Tamil Media.
London Tamil Media confirmed that it had acquired IBC Tamil, however denied Lebara’s involvement in the station. BizAsia had also sent a number of questions to London Tamil Media asking about the source of funds, however this was not answered by the company. This further added fuel to the station’s link-up with the Lebara Group.
BizAsia was awaiting a response from Lebara on the same. BizAsia also contacted Sathy Media for a comment but our efforts were refuted.
