A new British Pakistani entertainment channel, will launch free-to-air on Sky Digital on Monday. BizAsia has the exclusive details.

TV 99 will be the first channel in the UK, which will focus on Pakistani cookery programming. The channel confirmed to BizAsia that it has signed a deal with broadcaster Zaiqa and will run seven-hours of cookery shows between 09:00 – 16:00 weekdays. Zaiqa will be the first Pakistani cookery channel in the UK.

Outside these hours, TV 99 will specialise in British Asian music with chart shows and live requests shows. UK Pakistani singer Khiza has also been confirmed as one of the faces of TV 99. The channel will broadcast blockbuster Pakistani movies during the weekend. It has already acquired films like ‘Majajan’, ‘Sargam’, ‘Choorian’, ‘Wohti Ly Kay Jani’, ‘Salakhain’, ‘Mohabbatan Sachiyan’, ‘Ishq Khuda’, ‘Yeh Dil Aap Ka Huwa’, ‘Khoye Ho Tum Kahan’, ‘Love Mein Gum’, ‘Jugni’ and many others.

TV 99 will be available free-to-air on Sky Digital channel 857. It started testing on the Sky Digital platform earlier this week.

TV 99 is being handled by East and West Entertainment, the same company, which handles PTV Global in the UK.
