'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl' to be remade in Spanish

As the Indian cinema expands further internationally, it looks like other film industries want a piece of Bollywood action too. News has it that the Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ (2011) is to be remade in Spanish.

According to reports Yash Raj Films signed the deal with Columbian film maker Diego Ramirez for the rights. ZEE��News��reported Ramirez, Producer, 64-A Films, explaining, “I think the character of Ricky Bahl is the real asset of this film and we look forward to adapting this for Colombian and Spanish audiences everywhere.��As of now we are looking to film this in four Colombian cities of Cali, Medellin, Bogota and Cartagena for the sun and beaches there – there is a possibility to go across Latin America once the final script is locked.”

Avtar Panesar, vice president – International Operations, YRF also issued a statement confirming the news stating, “This is truly path breaking for not just YRF as a studio, but also for the Indian film industry at large, as it paves the path for more such opportunities for everyone. We look forward to Ricky getting up to his tricks in Latin America now.”

There have been many rumours of other industries taking influence from Bollywood, one of the biggest films be talked about was Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Munnabhai M.B.B.S’ (2003), however nothing had been confimred. It will be interesting to see what the Spanish come up with.
