Kunal Jaisingh, who plays the popular and handsome Omkara Singh Oberoi in Star Plus’ ‘Ishqbaaaz’ is one actor who’s been with the show since its very first episode. Playing the middle brother of the Oberoi trio, Jaisingh branched out when the show gave way to ‘Dil Boley Oberoi’, which also saw the beginning of the character’s love story with the Shrenu Parikh’s – Gauri Kumari Sharma. As the show recently marked a milestone episode-wise, BizAsiaLive.com caught up with the actor about his journey.
‘Ishqbaaaz’ recently celebrated 500 episodes. This is quite an achievement! How does it feel?
It’s really a thrilling moment. All of us in the team are working hard to stay in viewers’ hearts. 500 episodes is an achievement and we all are enjoying being a part of the show and seeing it reach this. I feel blessed and lucky.
Your character Omkara has quite a big female fan following. How do you deal with such adulation?
I respect my fans. I always try to reply and greet them. Omkara has been very special character for me. I’m thankful for their love and support. They will always be valuable for me.
You broke away from ‘Ishqbaaaz’ for ‘Dil Boley Oberoi’ which also proved popular and brought Gauri into Omkara’s life. How would you describe your off-screen chemistry with your on-screen love?
We are friends and we enjoy our work. Shrenu is very hard-working and very down to earth. She is also one of the reasons for the success of our both the shows. It’s our chemistry together with our creative looks which the fans seem to appreciate.
What’s the best thing about shooting for ‘Ishqbaaaz’?
The team is like family. I never get bored on sets. We all boost each other to perform at our best. The set is like a second home for me.
Omkara’s bond with Shivaay and Rudra is definitely one of the show’s strong points. How do you, Nakuul Mehta & Leenesh Mattoo gel in real life?
We get along the same way off screen too. They are both really talented and good-hearted. As well as that, their behaviour and sense of humour is what we would look for in our friends.
You recently got engaged – congratulations! However, you’ve broken so many hearts… What do you say to all those hearts you’ve broken?
Thank you. I didn’t think I broke hearts but if I did then I’m so sorry. Frankly, my fans always share positivity and blessings. Their congratulations, greetings and wishes really made me and my partner glad.
As ‘Ishqbaaaz’ continues its dream run, can you reveal anything interesting that’s in store for Om and Gauri?
That’s something you’ll need to wait and watch out for. We’re both important characters in the show. People are loving us and the show’s makers will never disappoint their viewers – that’s for sure!
