Kumail Nanjiani to lead cast in Disney+ series ‘Welcome To Chippendales’
Pakistani-American actor Kumail Nanjiani will be seen as the lead in the upcoming Disney+ original, ‘Welcome To Chippendales’.
The story revolves around an Indian immigrant, Somen Banerjee (Steve), who became the founder of the popular male-stripping brand. The true-crime saga follows his downturn.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Nanjiani spoke about his character, “I’ve never gotten the chance to play a character like this, someone who sort of goes so dark and changes so much over the course of the season. And I thought that the story itself was so wild and unpredictable and sort of shocking that I felt like I had to be a part of it. I thought of someone else playing this part and the show being great and how upset it would make me, and then I decided to do it.”
