Vikram Bhatt’s daughter Krishna Bhatt is the latest entry into the industry from the Bhatt family. The 22 year old is the one helming the creative control at Bhatt’s new production venture Lone Ranger – established in 2016 – which is making its foray into the digital world. Deputed as the Creative Head, Krishna is responsible for creating content for VB on the Web, the company’s YouTube platform which has created several successful web series this past year.

You are heading up the digital company, Lone Ranger. What is the direction you are taking?
Lone Ranger is my father and my production house for all content whether it’s a feature film or a web original. Our YouTube Channel VBOnTheWeb that we started last year was very successful with a lot of original content garnering millions of views which gave us the opportunity to release it as an App this year. Untouchables is a Web Original for this app which was my debut as well as the App’s. With the coming in of Jio and the digital world taking over, the web is the future.

Web content is still quite new in India. Do you think it’ll be challenging to get the audience to embrace it within India?
I think the audience has already embraced web content. It’s just we who don’t realise it. I think we highly underestimate how intelligence our audiences are. The last one year has made me realise that India is more on the phone than in the theatre and is willing to lap up good digital content.

What kind of genres are you particularly looking to focus on?
I am partial to romance and human drama. I’m an emotional person and like telling stories that are filled with drama and emotion. However, I’m still in the nascent stage of being a director and I would like to tell any story that is good no matter what the genre is.

Is there anything you feel apprehensive about?
I think we are always apprehensive of the day we release our films or our shows. How the audience will react to it is important. It’s the audience’s love or dislike that gives you the permission t tell another story.

Do you think the lack of censorship in web content makes things different for the Indian arena?
I think we are intelligent enough to know what is good and what is bad for us. The web gives you the freedom to exercise that intelligence as well as the independence to decide for yourself if it’s something that you would like or dislike instead of another body making the decision for you.

What have you got coming up (including ‘Untouchables’)?
‘Untouchables’ has just released and unlike a movie, a web show takes its own course. After that, I will be making ‘Maaya 2’ and one more project that still in the scripting stage.

Where do you see Lone Ranger in five years?
God willing, I would like to see Lone Ranger as an ace producer of content. I would like to think that we will be successful enough to keep making more and more shows and films for the web and hopefully for the cinema halls as well. My personal goal and ambition is to make it the biggest in India and we working day in and day out towards that.
