‘Koffee with Karan 5’ review: Anushka-Katrina’s honesty prevails

Usually, when two female stars come together on ‘Koffee with Karan’, the episode is always one to watch. Not only do they create headlines but they also seem to giggle a lot. Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma’s episode was much the same but completely different reasons – the main being how frustrated their answers and comments made host Karan Johar.
Kaif was definitely a revelation in the episode. She’s usually not heard saying too much but she showed a side to her which is likable and, most importantly, relatable. Pairing her with Sharma was perhaps a stroke of genius by Johar as the two evidently showed how similar they were and they absolutely had a blast trying to dodge questions and also giving more information in some of their answers than was required – with hilarious outcomes.
Apart from Kaif’s suggestions for the next season of the show, including having a smaller sofa for the guests, the giggles were caused when the two actresses were feeding off each other’s energies. Both agreed at various points that they don’t like liars as well as how much they know ‘Koffee with Karan’ is taken seriously – almost giving Johar a bit of a complex about the way the show and his presentation comes across.
During the “kissing” round, with Arjun Kapoor once again popping in as guest, the two actresses managed to give entertaining anecdotes, much to his pleasure. The rapid fire round became interesting when it wasn’t a solo by solo round as requested by Kaif. However, her preference didn’t really work because rather than the two actual guests, Kapoor was the one who walked away with the hamper for his candid inputs in between. The Koffee with quiz was also an entertaining watch with added input from Kaif on how it should be conducted in the future.
Overall, it has to be said that many will agree with Johar that Kaif should show this side of her personality more often. Hopefully, she will do this in the future.
