Kiran Bedi arrested; refused to offer bail

Star Plus presenter and former police officer Kiran Bedi has been arrested alongside Gandhian activist Anna Hazare as he set out to launch a hunger strike in support of a strong Lokpal Bill.

Kiran tweeted that she has refused to offer bail after being detained with Anna Hazare and that she may be sent to Tihar Jail.

Hazare asked his supporters to fill up jails across the country and nationwide protests are on against the crackdown on Team Anna.

Kiran Bedi termed “Detention unconstitutional”. While detaining Anna team members, Kiran Bedi asked police about the charges against them the police officers said that they are only following orders.

“This is exactly what happened during emergency. Emergency has revisited the country. This detention is unconstitutional and undemocratic,” said Bedi.
