Keith Vaz makes return in new constituency role

Former Labour MP, Keith Vaz has been elected as the chairman of his former local constituency, Leicester East.

Vaz, who is being investigated by a parliamentary watchdog, stepped down as Leicester East MP after 32 years following a six-month suspension from the Commons.

The suspension came into force over allegations he “expressed willingness” to purchase cocaine for male prostitutes.

The current MP Claudia Webbe was not present at the meeting.
