The UK’s longest-serving Asian MP, Keith Vaz has lodged a formal complaint against the BBC’s coverage that was given when Narendra Modi was confirmed as India’s new prime minister on Friday 16th May.

NewsEastWest reports that a letter dated 2nd June addressed to Lord Tony Hall, BBC’s Director General said, “Many of my constituents particularly those of Indian origin and of the Hindu faith were offended by the reporting about Narendra Modi.”

The report further adds Vaz insinuating the BBC presenter Yalda Hakim portraying Mr Modi as a controversial figure۝ and that the image of India has been tarnished by the BBC۪s coverage.

Vaz has asked for the coverage to be investigated internally.
