KBC fails to comply with Ofcom request

Kashmir Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has failed to comply with numerous requests made by Ofcom regarding the clarity of its licence.

Since KBC ceased broadcasting last year, the licence has said to be transferred to another service, DBN.

However last year, Ofcom requested KBC۪s agreement with DBN in connection with the provision of the service, on many occassions. KBC has repeatedly failed to comply with these requests.

On Monday 1st March 2010, under the terms of its licence, Ofcom directed KBC to comply with the following direction – “DBN held by Kashmir Broadcasting Corporation Limited”.

Ofcom requires this information in order to determine whether KBC is providing the DBN service and is complying with its obligations as a licensee.

Ofcom has given KBC until Monday 15th March to respond. Failure to comply with a direction given to it by Ofcom would be a serious breach by KBC of a licence condition which could give rise to consideration of a statutory sanction including revocation of the licence.
