‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ returns on high note

Sony Entertainment Television Asia’s efforts in bringing back eyeballs to the channel with the new series of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ seemed to have paid off.

‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, which returned for its fourth run with host Amitabh Bachchan touched a rating of 5 for the channel, according to overnight figures by aMap.

It�۪s the first time the show was shown on Sony Entertainment Television Asia after three series’ on rival Star Plus. The last time, Sony TV collected a similar rating was during the telecast of blockbuster movie ‘3 Idiots’ a few weeks ago.

The 90-minute launch episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 4’ on Monday night (11th October) beat off competition from ‘Bigg Boss’ on Colors, which managed a healthy 3.4.

Fiction shows on other channels at the same time could not match the power of the two mega shows. Star Plus grabbed 3.2 points, ZEE TV mustered in 2.9 and Imagine just 1.1.

Official figures from TAM will be released next week for a clearer indication on how the new shows have worked with viewers.
