Katrina Kaif now favourite to star opposite SRK in ‘Happy New Year’

After endless rumours of Shah Rukh Khan’s leading lady in Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’, it now looks like Katrina Kaif is once again favourite to bag the role after her schedule became free.

Since her co-star Hrithik Roshan is currently recovering from brain surgery, both her films ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘Shuddhi’ have been delayed, with work now being carried out in November.

A source told Mid-Day, ���The casting director of the film had already finalised the other three ladies. But with Hrithik going for his sudden brain surgery, the equations changed and Kat came on board. She is completely free for the next three months.�۝

Khan had been linked with various TV stars like Ankita Lokhande, Jennifer Winget and Simran Kaur Mundi to star in the film. However, Khan’s preferred choice was having an established actress opposite him.

The source added, ���The film is going on the floors from September 5 onwards and since they want around 40 days from Katrina, she can easily shoot the film through September and October.�۝

Kaif, who is currently on holiday with beau Ranbir Kapoor in Sri Lanka, is expected to return next week and sign ‘Happy New Year’.
