Katrina Kaif would like to do biopic on Indira Gandhi

Katrina Kaif has expressed that she would like to do a bipoic, as this one genre of film that she hasn’t yet done in her 14 year career in Bollywood.

Reported in DNA India, Kaif says she is keen to do a biopi, but the scripts she has been offered so far haven’t really been of interest. “I am extremely keen on doing a biopic. It’s exciting for any actor if the film is written well. There are so many stories that are waiting to be told… I haven’t really been offered that many biopics and I didn’t like the ones I had been approached for,” added Kaif.

So who would Kaif like to do a biopic on? Kaif shared she would like to essay India’s first female Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. “I would love to play Indira Gandhiji on screen.”

Asked why, Kaif said, “What a fascinating person she was! It’s not about idolising someone, but she would be an interesting character to play on celluloid. She was someone who commanded power and grace in equal measure.”

Previously, Kaif did get to play the character of Sonia Gandhi in Prakash Jha’s ‘Raajneeti’ (2010). However it has been said that Vidya Balan also offered a film based on Gandhi, but the director wasn’t able to get the necessary permission from the Gandhi family, so maybe Kaif will have to wait.
