Kartik Aaryan opens up about fallout with Karan Johar over ‘Dostana 2’
The number of conspiracy theories around Kartik Aaryan’s ouster from Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana 2’ would in itself make an interesting movie plot. The ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ (2011) actor decided to finally reveal the real reason for his exit from the Janhvi Kapoor starrer.
It was believed that Kartik Aaryan was unceremoniously dropped from sequel to ‘Dostana’ (2008) directed by Collin D’Cunha because of his alleged offscreen breakup with onscreen ladylove, Janhvi Kapoor. Kartik has finally opened up about the episode and clarified that there was indeed a fallout, but confirmed it was not a money matter. The monologue king in his recent interview said, “I am very greedy, but in terms of script and not money.”
There were multiple stories floating around the time and seems like Aaryan has had enough. He confirmed, “This is like Chinese whispers, a make-belief story. I have never left a film because of money.” The actor further clarified, “I haven’t spoken about this before. I believe in what my mother has taught me, and these are my values too… when there’s an altercation between two people, the younger one should never speak about it. I follow that and hence I never speak about it.”

They made an official announcement that said, “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence – we will be recasting ‘Dostana 2’, directed by Collin D’Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon.” The team’s search for Kartik’s replacement was unyielding. Luckily Janhvi and Laksh, both bagged two-each Dharma movies as a compensation for ‘Dostana 2’.
