Karni Sena threatens to vandalise cinemas showing ‘Padmavati’

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ may have received a green light earlier by the CBFC, however, the threats from Rajput Karni Sena continue to emerge.

The CBFC had suggested a number of changes including title change to ‘Padmavat’, plus 26 cuts. Knowing this, Karni Sena President Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi continued to threaten against cinema halls that showed the film.

He said, “The release of ‘Padmavati’ is only going to create chaos in the country. The government would be responsible for any loss of life and property following the release of this movie. Every theatre, where this movie would be released would be vandalised”.

He added, “The censor board is taking this decision under the pressure of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and are destroying Hindutva from the country.”

The film stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
