Kareena’s take on ‘Rangoon’ debacle

There was a lot of buzz surrounding Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest film ‘Rangoon’, however it tanked at the box office in its opening weekend.

In its first five days of its release, the film could only manage Rs. 17 crore at the domestic box office. The film starred Shahid Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan. While a lot of finger pointing has taken place, the latter’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan has given an interesting take on the film’s disastrous response.

In PinkVilla, Kareena was cited saying, “Some movies are beyond box office collections. Vishal Bhardwaj’s movies are always a piece of art. A few movies are for the actor’s appreciation.”

Prior to the film’s release, Kareena had said that she expected the film to be one of the films of the year. Elaborating on this, Kareena had said, “I’m expecting it to be one of the films of the year because it is directed by one of my favourite directors Vishal Bhardwaj, who has also made Omkara. I think that people are also expecting that because Saif was so good in that film as Langra Tyagi, which is one of his iconic roles.”
