Saif Ali Khan’s brawl with South African Businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma hit the news when it took place in 2012. Now, it has emerged that the actor’s wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and her sister Karisma Kapoor refused to provide statements to the police.

According to a source, the sisters were prime witnesses but were not willing to be forthcoming with information. A police officer told Hindustan Times, “”The statements of Kareena Kapoor and her sister Karisma were not recorded in connection with the Saif brawl case. We tried to persuade the duo, who was present at the spot, but they were not forthcoming about recording their statements over the incident”.

“I have learnt the two (Kareena and Karisma) were not keen to depose (before the police). The two were not prime witnesses and hence their statements might not have been recorded”, said Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region).

Abha Singh, known lawyer, commented, “Police have the right to summon witnesses if they are not ready to come forward. In fact, the Kapoor sisters were part of the group that indulged in fighting with the victim and hence they should also have been charged in the case”.

Khan has maintained that the incident happened because Sharma used foul language towards the ladies he was with which included Malika Arora Khan and sister Amrita Arora.
