Just yesterday, BizAsia reported thenews Priyanka Chopra has replaced Kareena Kapoor in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram Leela’. However, it has since emerged that Bebo had walked out of the movie a week ago and the actress has admitted this herself.
Bebo is more than unhappy with reports that her leaving the project has been due to her impending marriage to beau, Saif Ali Khan. According to Times of India, the actress stated, “I walked out a week ago. I had allotted 100 days for the shooting in August as per contract but Mr Bhansali wanted more days to shoot. My managers Reshma Shetty and Zahid Khan thought about it and decided it wasn’t possible as I have signed three new big films for next year.” Kapoor went on to state that she has already allotted time for Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’ and therefore wouldn’t have been able to give dates to ‘Ram Leela’.
She continues, “My not doing this film has nothing to do with my wedding. Everyone knows Saif and me have been together in a relationship for the last five years and such stories about me being replaced because I am getting married are floated by PR machineries on an overdrive!” Kapoor and Khan are due to wed on 16th October.
News of Bebo’s walk-out seems to have come at the right time following rumours of her replacement. Both Chopra and Bhansali remained unavailable for comment. It remains to be seen whether there is an official announcement by Bhansali of Chopra’s taking up the project which has Ranveer Singh as the male lead. Keep checking BizAsia for updates on this story.
