Kareena Kapoor Khan’s ‘Udta Punjab’ character nothing like ‘Jab We Met’

Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently shooting for Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Udta Punjab’ opposite Diljit Dosanjh. The film is expected to see her in a Sikh avatar eight years after she portrayed Sikh girl Geet in ‘Jab We Met’. However, in ‘Udta Punjab’ her character is nowhere near Geet, BizAsia has learnt.

An insider revealed to Hindustan Times, “Unlike the chirpy, happy-go-lucky college girl that she played in Imtiaz�۪s (Ali; director) film, Kareena�۪s character in her next will be a bit sombre and edgy. Also, while her character was from Bhatinda in JWM, in Abhishek�۪s film, she plays a working girl from Amritsar. Hence, her clothes and the overall look in this one are going to be different”.

“The film�۪s premise is more serious than that of JWM, so that difference has to come out,” the source continued. Kapoor Khan has apparently been taking diction lessons for the role.

‘Udta Punjab’ also stars Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
