Kareena Kapoor Khan @ 40: Five of her unforgettable noughties’ songs

Her perfect pout is the talk of the town not to mention her style. Be it western or traditional this actress has always managed to rock every look on screen and off. She made a place in the hearts of the audience from her very first film and it didn’t take long before her fans gave her a new name. This actress is none other than Kareena Kapoor Khan also lovingly known as ‘Poo’ by her fans.

While there are so many things one would want to forget this year Khan has many things to be thankful for. 2020 marks 20 years of the actress being in the film industry and also the actress turns 40 this year. BizAsiaLive.com will look back at five songs from early on in her career that simply cannot be forgotten.

Dupatta Mera from ‘Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai’ (2001)
It was a romantic drama that saw Tusshar Kapoor debut opposite Khan. Unfortunately the film didn’t do that well but the songs were very memorable. One song that stands out from the film is Dupatta Mera that had Khan’s character Pooja performing on it, at a college event. Anuradha Sriram sang for Khan while Anu Malik created the music. Watching this song would make anyone nostalgic taking them back to the noughties instantly.

San Sanana from ‘Asoka’ (2001)
It was the introduction of princess Kaurwaki (Khan) and what an intro. In the voice of Alka Yagnik a playful Khan is presented to the audience. Her character showed someone who has pride in herself and her abilities. Khan looked ever so stunning in her red outfit, with her hair flowing and her iconic eye make up, it was a simple look but she stood out.

The song was filmed in the outdoors amongst nature with one part filmed at a beautiful waterfall. Khan was praised for her performance and was even nominated the FilmFare Award for best actress that year.

Bani Bani from ‘Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon’ (2003)
Dressed in a traditional red and gold outfit Khan’s character Sanjana can be seen performing on stage with family and friends watching her. Sanjana (Khan) is very much in love with Prem Kishan (Hrithik Roshan) so much in fact that she feels his presence around her even when he isn’t there.

While watching the song one can sense the happiness Sanjana is feeling while performing. The vocals of SS Chithra’s were on spot suiting Khan very much.

It’s Rocking from ‘Kya Love Story Hai’ (2007)
It was a special appearance that saw Khan rocking in the voice of Alisha Chinai. The song begins with glamour showing a white limousine and Khan stepping out looking like a star. The song became quite a rage when it first released showing on almost every channel. With the magic of Chinai’s voice and Khan’s charm the song was a hit amongst all ages. It had snippets of the song Ude Jab Jab Zulfen Teri from the 1957 film ‘Naya Daur’ which made the song even more memorable.

Chhaliya from ‘Tashan’ (2008)
It was the song that made everyone talk and at the same time made Khan very popular. Pooja (Khan) appears from the water revealing her physique which for anyone who watched the song surely dropped their jaws at Khan’s transformation. This song is a turning point for Pooja in the film because in the first half of the film Khan’s character is simple, very innocent and in need of help.

Like a person being reborn, Pooja appears in this song almost as though she is a different person from the one shown earlier on. She is feisty, powerful and very sly.

Credit goes to Vishal and Shekhar for the music of this song with Sunidhi Chauhan and Piyush Mishra giving their vocals.

BizAsiaLive.com wishes Kareena Kapoor Khan a happy 40th birthday.
