Karan Johar’s donation to army for ‘ADHM’ still pending?

Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma - ADHM

As previously reported by BizAsiaLive.com, Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016) managed a smooth release only once the film’s makers had come to an agreement with MNS chief Raj Thackeray that they would pay Rs. 5 Crore to the Indian army as a donation. However, news is now doing the round that the donation has not been made.

Deccan Chronicle quote a representative from the army, as having told a newspaper, “We checked an hour ago and we have not received any such donation in the account.”

While it had also been heard that the army had refused the money, this unnamed representative apparently clarified that they did not refuse the money but had said it should be given “voluntarily” from the makers and not made to seem like it was “extorted”.

MNS secretary Shalini Thackeray, on the other hand, has been quoted as supporting the film’s makers this time round as she claims, “The Indian army should come forward and clarify whether they have refused to accept the amount.”

Despite the controversies pre and post release, ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ has undoubtedly been a beneficial project for its makers as it has already earned more than Rs. 200 Crore.
