Karan Johar still planning Christmas 2015 release

Karan Johar - Koffee with Karan

Since Karan Johar announced he was releasing ‘Shuddhi’ on Diwali 2016, there has been a question mark hanging over the original date of the film, which was initially December 2015.

According to reports, Johar is still planning to release a film during the Christmas period next year to compete directly with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

Word has it that Johar and Bhansali share an amicable relationship but that is not stopping the former to rival a film against the big budget costume drama.

Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Johar said, “I have a formal, civil and amicable equation with Sanjay Bhansali, nothing beyond that. So there’s no reason for me to speak to him about Shuddhi. He didn’t discuss the Bajirao Mastani announcement with me. We do our own thing.”

The report further adds that the rivalry between the two has allegedly intensified after Bhansali “pached” Johar’s second choices for ‘Shuddhi’, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. “I’d like to believe that a filmmaker of his stature would never resort to poaching,” Johar added.
