As the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces new changes to the 91st Academy Awards, Karan Johar is hoping for one more change – him as the latest host.
The Academy made the news public on Twitter, highlighting the major changes to the ceremony, “Change is coming to the #Oscars. Here’s what you need to know:
– A new category is being designed around achievement in popular film.
– We’ve set an earlier airdate for 2020: mark your calendars for February 9.
– We’re planning a more globally accessible, three-hour telecast.”
In response to the announcement, columnist Aniruddha Guha joked, “Getting Manish Paul to host too?”, to which Johar replied, “Hopefully Me”.
Johar is currently busy with the production of ‘Simmba’, ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Kalank’ and ‘Student of the Year 2’. He has also announced his upcoming directorial ‘Takht’, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
